Marie Osmond’s Son Michael Bryan’s Funeral Held Today
Marie Osmond’s 18-year-old son’s funeral service was held today in Provo, Utah. Read more on Michael Bryan’s tragic death below.
Michael Bryan was laid to rest today with loving words from his family and a hymn sung by the Osmond family.
Marie’s brother, Donny Osmond, opened the service with a prayer saying, “Bless my sister,” he said, sobbing. “Bless my sister and her family.”
Bryan’s siblings spoke about his sense of humor and kind heart.
“He was a man of his word. He wasn’t a talker, he was a doer. He was reliable,” Bryan’s sister Rachel Blosil, 20, said. “He knew my hopes, he knew my dreams, my secrets, things that nobody knows. He was my best friend.”
There were around 450 mourners that attended the funeral at a chapel near the Provo temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
“He was an intricate part of our family,” said Stephen Craig, 26, Michael’s oldest brother stated.” Each member of our family and every person here is better for having met him.”
To lighten the mood, each of Bryan’s siblings claimed they were Michael’s favorite sibling.
“My brother Michael loved me the most,” said 7-year-old Abigail Blosil to the crowd. “My brother wrote a song about me that said I made him very happy. See, he did love me the most.”
Marie Osmond stated she was thankful for the support and prayers she said she’s felt since Bryan’s death. Marie Osmond said she was proud of each of her children and acknowledged the presence of Bryan’s birth mother, “who gave me the greatest gift.”
“Thank you for those beautiful 18 years,” said Marie Osmond.
Bryan’s service concluded with a Mormon hymn, sung by Marie and her brothers Alan, Merrill, Jay, Wayne, Donny and Jimmy.
At the graveside, the family wrote messages onto orange balloons before releasing them into the air.
Bryan committed suicide on Feb. 26 after jumping from the eighth floor of his apartment building. An official cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy and toxicology tests.
