Tiger Woods Car Accident Injury Update! New Details

A police chief in Florida has said Tiger Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren Woods, used a golf club to smash out the back window to help get him out of the car.

Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor told the AP that Elin Nordegren told officers she was in the house when she heard the car accident and rushed outside. Saylor says officers found Woods laying in the street with his wife hovering over him.

Saylor says Woods was in and out of consciousness when his officers arrived — he had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth.
We’re told Elin told cops about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

One Florida law enforcement official called it “a domestic issue.”

Elin apparently was able to forgive and forget — according to Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor, Nordegren smashed out the back window of Tiger’s car to help get him out.

UPDATE — We’re told the Florida Highway Patrol went to Tiger’s house this afternoon to talk to him about the accident — but they were turned away by his wife, who said he was sleeping. The FHP plans to try and talk to Woods again tomorrow.

Tiger Woods was injured in a car accident early Friday when his car struck a tree near his mansion in a gated waterfront community, authorities said.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the 33-year-old PGA star hit the hydrant and a tree after pulling out of his driveway in his 2009 Cadillac sports utility vehicle.

The patrol reported Woods’ injuries as serious, though Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan said the golfer was treated at a hospital and released in good condition.

The patrol said alcohol was not involved, though the accident remains under investigation and charges could be filed. No one else was in the car, patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said.

Woods’ $2.4 million home is part of the exclusive Isleworth subdivision near Orlando, a community set on an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and a chain of small lakes. The neighborhood, which is fortified with high brick walls and has its own security force, is home to CEOs and other sports stars such as the NBA’s Shaquille O’Neal.

The accident happened at 2:25 a.m., though the FHP did not release the accident report until nearly 12 hours later.

Gary Bruhn, mayor of the adjacent community of Windermere, said police from that village were among the first on the accident scene and saw Woods with cuts on his face. Montes said troopers consider the injuries serious if they require more than minor medical attention.

Tiger Woods’ car crash happened at around 2:20 AM this morning near his home in Windermere, Florida.  Woods was taken to the hospital and reportedly has facial lacerations.

Woods apparently struck a fire hydrant and then a tree on a neighbor’s property, but police have not said if alcohol was a factor.

One of the most interesting parts of this story is the news being released in the past couple of days stating that Tiger Woods was cheating on his wife Elin Nordegren, with whom he has two children. Could Tiger Woods have been leaving his residence after a fight or was he drinking?

According to ESPN, the police report reads, “driver had just pulled out of the driveway at his residence … as [vehicle] began to drive on Deacon Circle, [vehicle] struck a fire hydrant. The front of [vehicle] then struck a tree…”

Tiger Woods was driving a 2009 Cadillac SUV. FHP told the Orlando Sentinel the airbags did not deploy.

Woods was alone in the vehicle at the time of the car accident.
