Andre Agassi Reveals His Former Trademark Locks Were A Wig!
Posted on November 1, 2009
Andre Agassi had a huge secret throughout his huge tennis career… he was wearing a wig! Read more on this story below.
Tennis star Andre Agassi recently revealed his crystal meth addiction in the hey day of his career, and now reveals his trademark ‘lion-mane’ locks were actually a wig.
The now retired athlete and eight-time Grand Slam champion has revealed he wore a toupee during his games after he began losing his hair in his early twenties.
Agassi’s confession is in his new autobiography titled “Open.”
Agassi feels he could have won more tennis matches if he wasn’t so worried about his toupee falling off on the tennis court.
He blames his anxiety over his fake hair for his loss of the first Grand Slam final at the French Open in 1990.
In the tome, Agassi writes, “Every morning I would get up and find another piece of my identity on the pillow, in the wash basin, down the plughole. I asked myself, ‘You want to wear a toupee? On the tennis court?’ I answered myself: ‘What else could I do?’…
“With each leap, I imagine it falling into the sand. I imagine millions of spectators move closer to their TV sets, their eyes widening and, in dozens of dialects and languages, ask how Andre Agassi’s hair has fallen from his head.”

Lots of guys start balding at an early age (my dad was losing hair by 20) and I’ve heard a lot of the time, it’s caused by an large production of testosterone. That’s the stuff that’s makes you identifiable as a man, right? What’s there to be ashamed about? Shaved head looks better than a rockstar mullet anyway, I’m pretty sure.
