Hulk Hogan Says His Life Was Saved By Call From Laila Ali (Photos)

Hulk Hogan reveals in a new book that he was on the brink of committing suicide but his life was saved because of Laila Ali’s phone call. Read more of what Hulk had to say below.

Wrestler Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, says boxer and “Gladiators” co-star Laila Ali made the phone call that actually prevented him from taking his own life.

In Hogan’s book “My Life Outside the Ring,” he describes that he had hit a low point after the break-up of his marriage of 23 years to Linda and his son Nick’s car accident that left his friend with brain damage and Nick in jail.

Hogan tells in the book of his worry of his son’s accident and downward spiral of his marriage.

“I practically begged her, ‘Please, don’t file,’ ” the Daily News story quotes the book as saying. “Our son’s just had this accident — if we do this now, it’ll make us look like the Britney Spears family. Please, don’t file for divorce.’”

But Hulk also aired some dirty laundry in the book saying that his ex-wife Linda is an abusive alcoholic who once threatened to beat their son with a wine bottle.

But Linda’s bad behavior wasn’t shown on their VH1 reality show “Hogan Knows Best,” he said, because “There were plenty of times when Linda would lose it, but no one wanted to see that kind of ugliness on TV.”

Hulk says that Laila Ali, daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, prevented him from committing suicide after he took Xanax and rum.

Laila Ali had phoned him after noticing he didn’t seem to be himself at work.  Hulk went on to say that he had actually reached for a gun and put his finger on the trigger when Laila called. Wow!
