Beyonce’s world tour hit the headlines when she was booked in Kuala Lumpur. The leaders of the Pan-Malaysian Islamic party are protesting the “Western sexy performances”.
Beyonce had promised to tone down her sexy stage outfits, but the concert has now been canceled. The organizers of the show said it was Beyonce’s decision.
A statement from gig promotion company Marctensia reads, “The postponement is solely (the) decision of the artist and has nothing to do with other external reasons.”
This canceled show comes two years after Beyonce was forced to cancel her planned performance in Malaysia in 2007, after another Islamic group was protesting.
Other artist have also been affected by the protests such as the Black Eyed Peas, Avril Lavigne and Gwen Stefani. These artists had to cover up for their shows in Malaysia.
