HIV Positive Woman Vows Never To Let Sir Elton John Adopt Her Baby Boy

The HIV positive mother of the Ukranian boy that Sir Elton  John wants to adopt has said she will never give her child up. But other Ukrainian laws prohibit the adoption anyway sadly. Read more on Elton John’s adoption woes below.

The mother of 15 month-old Lev is HIV positive and know only as Marina. She refuses to allow Sir Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, to adopt her son because she hopes to get her life together and raise him herself.

The 25 year old woman never actually gave up her parental rights has stated, “I will not give my baby to Elton John for any money.”

Sir  Elton John, 52, spoke last month of his desire to adopt the little boy who “stole his heart” when he met him at an orphanage in Makeyevka. Little Lev is a doll isn’t he?

Marina, 25, had her two children taken taken away by social services because of her alcohol problems said she wants her boy back.

She told Britain’s The Sun newspaper, “I understand Elton’s feelings. Lev is a very sunny and cheerful boy. It’s impossible not to love him.

“But I’m going to overcome my problems. I so much want my babies back.”

But it looks as if even if Marina agreed, that John wouldn’t be able to adopt little Lev due to Ukrainian adoption laws. Their laws state that an adoptive parents should be no more than 45 years older than the adopted child. And of course Elton is over 60 years older than little Lev.

And on top of that rule, Ukrainian law says that same-sex couples are not allowed to adopt because homosexual marriages are not recognized in their country.
