Actor James Franco, 31, will join General Hospital for a couple of months. Franco will be playing a character that will torment mobster Jason Morgan beginning November 20, 2009.

SoapNet has reported that it was actually James Franco that approached General Hospital head honchos about joining their show.

“We are thrilled to announce that James Franco will play an integral part in a lengthy run on General Hospital this fall,” executive producer Jill Farren Phelps told SoapNet. “It’s an honor that an actor of James’ caliber would choose to spend some of his valuable time in Port Charles.”

This will be quite a departure for James Franco after seeing him as a stoner in “Pineapple Express”.
