Mackenzie Phillips Secret?? Mackenzie & Her Father John Phillips Had Sex!!

In Mackenzie Phillips’ book that hits bookstores on Wednesday, the former child-star reveals that her dad, musician John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, engaged with her in a long-term sexual relationship. Mackenzie Phillips, 49, who has battled drug addiction for much of her life, wrote that she was on the TV sitcom “One Day at a Time” when her father John had sex with  her on the night before she was to marry Jeff Sessler (a member of the Rolling Stones entourage).

“On the eve of my wedding, my father showed up, determined to stop it,” writes Phillips, who was 19 and a big-time drug user at the time. “I had tons of pills, and Dad had tons of everything too. Eventually I passed out on Dad’s bed.”

“My father was not a man with boundaries. He was full of love, and he was sick with drugs. I woke up that night from a blackout to find myself having sex with my own father.

“Had this happened before? I didn’t know. All I can say is it was the first time I was aware of it. For a moment I was in my body, in that horrible truth, and then I slid back into a blackout.”

Phillips’ life began to go downhill quickly. In 1980, she was fired from One Day at a Time because of her serious drug use. That year she went into rehab with her father. Mackenzie even toured with him in a band called the New Mamas and the Papas. During that time her sexual relationship with her father became consensual.

“I was a fragment of a person, and my secret isolated me,” she writes.

“One night Dad said, ‘We could just run away to a country where no one would look down on us. There are countries where this is an accepted practice. Maybe Fiji.’

“He was completely delusional. No, I thought, we’re going to hell for this.”

Mackenzie will make an appearance on Oprah this Wednesday.

While many might doubt Mackenzie Phillips secret, her half-sister believes her. Chynna Phillips, John’s daughter with Michelle Phillips and Mackenzie’s half sister said she believes the story. Chynna talked to US magazine about the time she first found out about it, in between flight at La Guardia in 1997, 11 years after the affair had ended:

“She said, ‘I don’t know why, but I just really felt the need to call you and tell you something that I think you need to know,’” Chynna tells Us Weekly. “And she went on to tell me that she had had an incestuous relationship with our dad for about 10 years.”

“Somebody could have dropped a piano on my head and I probably wouldn’t have felt it,” the singer tells Us Weekly. “But I knew it was true. I mean, who in their right mind would make such a claim if it wasn’t true?”
