US President Barack Obama’s plans to set up a national health service in the country has manyAmerican doctors, patients and insurers against the idea and calling it “socialist” and describe it as “health rationing”.
Currently the United States is the only major industrialised nation which does not provide universal health care for all of its citizens, leaving US patients the biggest spenders in the world when it comes to medical treatment.
Obama’s plan is to offer a “Public Option” – a government-run insurance scheme which would offer competitive rates so that private insurers would have to compete, keeping a tab on costs. It would also mean that all US citizens would have to be medically insured. Currently, around 85% of people have private health care insurance, most of them jointly funded by employee and employer, and some paid personally. The remaining 15% have no access to health care, unless they are admitted on an emergency basis, when the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act enforces that hospitals receive emergency patients, regardless of their ability to pay. This section of society however, simply has to ignore non-emergency ailments. There are some state-funded programs in place – for example, Medicare (for elderly patients) and Medicaid (for low-paid/ unemployed patients). But care given depends on the city/ state, and only covers extreme cases.
CNN gave national cable air time to what was described as a “controversial image that’s been circulating on the Web since July,” a “doctored image circulating on the Internet and even some protesters signs like this one in Brighton, Michigan, portraying President Obama as a witch doctor.”

Lisa, by your own logic, democratically, universal health care is dead then. The majority in the USA does not want it, by a huge margin.
As to this being racist? Not sure. Stupid? Sure. But I do not think the pictures of GWB as hitler and what not were racist either, I just thought they were stupid.
Get a little consistency in your life, would help you out amazingly.

No, it is not racist. It is an expression of how ridiculous “Obama’s health care plan” (which by the way – where is it? His health plan I mean. Aren’t there now 5 plans out there? Which one is from Obama himself?)

It fits perfectly, under the circumstances… President Obama isn’t the only politician who’s had unflattering photos passed around for amusement… Stop with the racist garbage, people of all nationalities are cartooned and made fun of and just because he’s partially black doesn’t mean he’s not fair game!
