Co-Creator Of M*A*S*H Larry Gelbart Dies At 81 (Photos)

Comedy writer Larry Gelbart, who co-created M*A*S*H and co-wrote the Dustin Hoffman movie “Tootsie,” has died at the age of 81. Read more on Larry Gelbart’s death below.
Larry Gelbart broke into showbiz writing jokes for comedians such as Sid Caesar and Danny Thomas and became a writer for The Red Buttons Show in the early 1950s.
Gelbart then went on to writing for variety shows that featured Judy Garland and Danny Kaye.
Larry Gelbart also is known for his book “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum”, which became a hit play and movie.
He was was diagnosed with cancer in June (09) and died on Friday (11Sep09).
