Adam Goldstein “DJ AM” Found Dead At Age 36: Crack Pipe & Prescription Drugs Found

Just a year after being in a tragic plane crash where only DJ AM and Travis Barker survived, DJ AM has been found dead in his Manhattan apartment. Read more on the details of DJ AM’s death below.

The awesome DJ and former fiance of Nicole Richie, Adam Goldstein was found dead with a crack pipe and prescription drugs located in his apartment on Friday.

DJ AM reportedly had a history of drug addiction.

He had spoken openly about his past drug addiction to ecstasy and crack cocaine in recent months, and sources also told TMZ.com,  that Goldstein had been devastated over his break-up with girlfriend Hayley Wood.

Hayley had called off their relationship within the past week.

Paramedics broke down the front door of Goldstein’s apartment before they found him, shirtless and wearing sweatpants, in his bed around 5:20 p.m.

A friend had called police after being unable to get into Goldstein’s home.

Details of DJ AM’s death have not been revealed, but police believe his death was caused by a drug overdose.

DJ AM was known for his performances at popular clubs and exclusive parties, as well as being known from his relationships with Nicole Richie and Mandy Moore.

Goldstein was last seen in public last weekend when he threw the first pitch at a New York Mets game at Citi Field in New York City. But friends hadn’t seen him for days afterwards.

DJ AM had once said his drug addiction got so bad in the past that he actually tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head but the gun had jammed.

But these days Goldstein stated he had been drug-free for 11 years, and he even stopped smoking cigarettes.

Celebrities paid tribute to him on Twitter, with Paris Hilton, who had known him since the age of 15, writing: ‘R.I.P. AM, I love you and you are already missed so much. My heart and prayers go out to his family and close friends. God bless. ’

She had written just minutes earlier: ‘It’s so hard to accept that I’m not going to be able to see him or talk to him again. There are no right words for this, I feel so sad. ’

Lindsay Lohan wrote: ‘i can’t believe this.. i’m in shock. why? why? r.i.p. adam.’

Singer John Mayer also paid tribute: ‘We’re supposed to lose our friends to time, at an age when we’re ready to agree to the terms of having lived a long life. Not now.’

Demi Moore said Goldstein had a ‘joyous spirit’, while Beyonce’s sister Solange, said he was a ‘walking miracle’.

Just last September DJ AM and Travis Barker were the only survivors in a tragic plane crash that killed four other people. TMZ reports that he had been battling post-traumatic stress after the crash, and suffering from ’survivors guilt’.

“There’s no reason why I should have lived or I lived and they didn’t,” he said in July. “And it’s something I struggle with every day.”
