Report: Billy Mays Autopsy Cites Cocaine As Factor In His Death

Billy May’s autopsy report issued from Hillsborough County, Florida, has cited cocaine as a major factor in the death of the television pitchman. Read more on Billy Mays’ autopsy findings below.

Billy Mays died in June at the age of 50 years-old.  Mays’ death came as quite  shock and the results of his autopsy is just as shocking!

The medical examiner’s office said cocaine use contributed to Billy Mays’ heart disease.

“Mays died from a lethal arrhythmia of the heart caused by hypertensive and arteriosclerotic heart disease,” the county said in a statement attributed to Dr. Leszek Chrostowski, the associate medical examiner who conducted the autopsy.

“He further concluded that cocaine use caused or contributed to the development of his heart disease, and therefore contributed to his death,” it added.

Chrostowski concluded that Mays had used cocaine “in the few days prior to death but not immediately prior to death.”

Cocaine raises blood pressure and thickens the wall of the heart.

The autopsy also found low concentrations of ethyl alcohol “consistent with social consumption of a few beverages” as well as the narcotic drugs hydrocodone, oxycodone and tramadol. Mays had prescriptions for these drugs to help with his hip pain.

There were also two tranquilizers found in his system, alprazolam (Xanax) and diazepam (Valium).

The popular television pitchman for OxiClean and Orange Glo was found dead at his home near Tampa on June 28.
