British singer Amy Winehouse was acquitted of assaulting a fan, Sherene Flash, who asked if she could take a picture of the singer.  Read more on Amy Winehouse below. Wineouse was cleared of the assault charge on Friday. District Judge Timothy Workman found Winehouse, 25, not guilty of punching dancer Sherene Flash, 27, in the eye after the fan asked for a photograph after a London charity ball in September.

Prosecuters claimed Winehouse did assault Flash but Winehouse stated that she felt intimidated by Flash who was drunk. And in addition, Winehouse said she was too short to have hit Flash in the face. Winehouse’s lawyer, Patrick Gibbs, said “the main injury here was probably to Miss Flash’s pride.”

The judge said that after hearing the evidence, he could not be sure the blow had been deliberate. “The charge is dismissed and the defendant discharged,” he said.

Amy Winehouse shrugged as the verdict was announced. “I’m relieved,” she told reporters as she left court. “I’m going home.”

Now that Amy Winehouse’s divorce is final from ex Blake Fielder-Civil, who many claimed got Amy started on hard drugs, and her court case ended well… maybe Amy will continue to improve herself.
