Mischa Barton Still Hospitalized Dealing With Body Issues & Drug Abuse

Actress Mischa Barton is still hospitalized in Los Angeles’ Cedars-Sinai Medical center on involuntary psychiatric hold. The beautiful actress is said to hate her body and parties out of control. Read more on Mischa below.

Sources have come forward stating that Barton has drug problems but has even bigger self-esteem issues.Â The source revealed,Â “She has big self-esteem issues… She hates her legs. She isn’t comfortable with her body. It’s been a big source of stress and self-hate,” said the friend as saying.

People magazine reported that the unflattering photos of Mischa published in tabloids just fueled her insecurity.

“She had a big problem with those photos of her. She didn’t like it. That just was something that contributed to her spiraling (insecurities) but she didn’t do much to fix it because of her partying,” said the friend.

Mischa Barton was set to star in “The Beautiful Life”, a new CW show. Ashton Kutcher is producing the show which details the lives of supermodels. The show was to begin shooting already but unfinished sets have delayed production. Many originally reported Barton’s illness was to blame for the delay.

The show’s producers have begun putting a contingency plan in place to replace Barton, if she is unable to return to the show. While not an outright recasting, the new recurring character closely resembles Barton’s original character. Casting is already underway.

A source close to the star that partied with her in London for Fashion Week said Barton has serious drug problems.

“She was behaving like an addict and I’m not surprised by the latest turn of events,” says the source, who says they saw the star rolling marijuana joints, as well as traces of white powder inside her purse.

Barton also allegedly lost her BlackBerry and grew increasingly agitated as the late night progressed.

“In my opinion she is going to need a lot of help to fully recover from what I saw that night in London,” says the snitch.

Mischa’s lifestyle has cost her several friendships too. An insider reveals, “In the last few years, her dark side has really come out,” a source close to Barton and her former BFF Nicole Richie tells the mag. “Her friends, like Nicole, want to be supportive but they really can’t be around her too much. She’s too volatile.”

“It makes us sad, but we’re also like, ‘Pull it together and get help already,’” the source says.

Mischa Barton was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold this past week after police answered a non-911 call from her residence on July 15.Â Barton’s rep, Craig Schneider, has said she “was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor,” and insists she is okay and resting.

The police escort was merely called to protect the star “due to Ms. Barton’s celebrity status,” he explains.
