I do not want anyone thinking that I am in any way minimising what this person has done. One year in jail probably won’t adjust her attitude. However, she is mentally ill and needs treatment. She is suffering in some way, and until that pain can be relieved, she will remain a dnager to others and most likely herself. Instead of calling her names, an expression of pity is more appropriate. Unfortunately, a year in jail will probably harden her rather than elicit remorse for the victims, including the kitten.
