Most pythons are perfectly safe. The BURMESE python, once it's over 8 feet, is not safe to handle alone, let alone leave unattended with a child. Please don't let special interest groups pull the wool over your eyes--all snakes are not the same, and all pythons are not the same--most are small! The few giant species can pose a threat, and that's why licensing should be required--and it was. These folks broke the law.
