“America’s Got Talent’s” Kevin Skinner (VIDEO)
Kevin Skinner, 35, surprised the “America’s Got Talent” judges and the entire audience with a beautiful rendition of Garth Brook’s song “If Tomorrow Never Comes”. Watch Kevin Skinner’s performance in the video below.
Kevin Skinner wore a backwards baseball cap and spoke with a very country twang. But the boy can sing!
The judges and audience of the show could be heard giggling as Skinner said he used to be a “chicken catcher”, and that his hobbies included hunting, fishing, and going “mudding”.
But Kevin Skinner surprised everyone with his beautiful and heartfelt version of “If Tomorrow Never Comes”. The unemployed farmer was definitely a big hit with the judges and the members of the audience.
Judge Piers Morgan praised Skinner saying, “There is a moment in every season and I can remember them all, where somebody comes onstage dressed like you are, and your cap is on the wrong way around, and … then you start to sing and within about 20 seconds, you had me,” he said. “By the end of it, that was one of the most emotional powerful performances I’ve seen in a long time.”
Sharon Osbourne agreed: “I thought you were going to be really hokey and silly,” she said. “But I can tell you’re a really lovely person. You’re a very genuine man.”

As a fellow Kentuckian, I am so proud of Kevin Skinner and how he sang. It was even better than Garth Brooks, it was so soulful and pure. Shame on you all for laughing at him. We might have a twang in our speech here, some don’t, but you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.. Just look at all the great talent that has come out of Kentucky, 2 Presidents even. Can’t wait to hear the next song.

Kevin Skinner taught America a valuable lesson last night when he sang his Garth Brooks song. I was one of those people who chuckled when he spoke and told of his Chicken farming story but as soon as he sang the first word I was humbled very deeply. “NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER” Cause what we got was beautiful and magical when he sang. Not even Garth moved me that much with that song and I am a big Garth fan. KEVIN I HOPE YOU WIN IT ALL~~”THAT WOULD MAKE AMERICA VERY PROUD!”

I just caught him on the ‘rerun’ of the show last night. He is wonderful, and his music touched me. I’m willing to bet that, win or lose this competition, we will be hearing a lot more from this dude. I will be one of the first in line to buy his CD

AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!! Kevin Skinner is by far is a true man. He was not ashamed in what he used to do for a job “chicken catcher” even when people laughed at him. Goes to show you don’t judge a book by it’s cover. After the first 5-10 seconds that song hit my heart like a ton of bricks. If he continues to sing like he did the other night I know he’ll win this. And if he doesn’t win and continues to sing the way he does any record company who doesn’t pick him up will be a bunch of fools.

Chicken catcher or not…Kevin Skinner can sing from the heart. He could wring emotion out of a stone. I loved it all…his simplicity, the purity of his voice, his authentic country twang…and the standing ovation he so deserved for delivering his talent in an endearing way. Go, Kevin, go! I’ll buy your album any day.
