A somber Janet Jackson made an appearance at the 2009 BET Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Janet spoke on the death of her brother, Michael. Jamie Foxx opened the BET Awards in a red leather “Billie Jean” jacket in tribute to Michael Jackson. See the videos of Janet Jackson and Jamie Foxx at the BET awards below.
Janet Jackson spoke about the death of her brother, Michael Jackson, for her family who found it too painful to attend.
“My entire family wanted to be here tonight but it was too painful,” a choked-up Janet told the audience.
“To you, Michael is an icon. To us, Michael is family and he will forever live in our hearts. On behalf of my family and myself thank you for your love and support. We miss him so much. Thank you so much.”
Janet Jackson and her father Joe Jackson attended the BET Awards to see the tribute to Michael Jackson, who died suddenly on Thursday.
Joe, who sat in a ringside seat next to the Rev. Al Sharpton, was dressed in a black hat, dark glasses and a dark suit. He said, “I wish the world had recognized him when he was living. Right now, he’s bigger than ever. But I wish he was here to see all this, to hear all this.”
