Billy Mays was found dead early Sunday morning at his Tampa, Florida home.
Billy Mays, 50, had a distinctive booming voice that he lent to many infomercials for products like OxiClean, Orange Glo, and many others.
Billy’s wife, Deborah Mays, found him dead in their home on Sunday morning. Police in Tampa did not discover any signs of foul play.
There will be an autopsy performed on Monday to determine the cause of death.
“Although Billy lived a public life, we don’t anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days,” Deborah Mays said in a statement. “Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times.”
Billy Mays reportedly began his career selling products to people that passed by on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. He has been involved with Mighty Putt, the Ding King repair dent kit, and well as the more known OxiClean and Orange Glo.
“With every product you see me on TV with, I’ve turned down 100, 150 more,” Mays told the media earlier this month, while in New York for a look alike contest. “I’ve been on TV for 11 years, and all I have is my good name.”
“I compare myself to a big-league slugger, a quarterback, the doctor who delivers the baby,” he said. “I’m not an inventor, but I’ll take your product to the next level.”
