Ed McMahon Dead at 86, RIP
Posted on June 23, 2009Ed McMahon, the legendary Johnny Carson sidekick and announcer has passed away at the age of 86. McMahon died shortly after midnight last night at Reagan UCLA Medical Center. McMahon has been in the hospital since February of 2009 batteling what has been described as bone cancer.
For those who know nothing of McMahon, one phrase that you will surely know was said by him- “Heeeeeere’s Johnny!” Ed McMahon sat next to Johnny Carson in the guest seat from 1962 to 1992. He has also been envolved with Publishers Clearing House and has done some Budweiser commercials.
Sadly, Ed’s health has been going downhill for years. He has had mainy health issues before his cancer including pneumonia and a severe neck injury in 2007.
McMahon is lived on by his wife Pamela, two sons and three daughters. He had a 3rd son but he died of cancer in 1995. RIP Ed, you will be missed.

RIP Ed McMahon. The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon is timeless Americana. Let us also not forget that Ed McMahon was the host of the Star Search game show, which was really the original American Idol if you think about it.
