Former Downhill Bike Racing Champion Melissa “Missy” Giove Busted With 384 Pounds Of Marijuana

Melissa “Missy” Giove, who is a former downhill bike racing champion and gold winner at the X games, was busted by the DEA for possession of almost 400 pounds of marijuana. Read more on Missy Giove’s arrest below.

“The 37-year-old Virginia resident was arrested earlier this week along with a 30-year-old man whose home was allegedly stashed with hundreds of pounds of marijuana and more than $1 million in cash. Giove was one of downhill mountain biking’s first female superstars, winning world and national titles before retiring six years ago.”

Authorities were informed that Missy Giove and Eric Canori were allegedly working together to sell marijuana. Investigators followed Missy Giove as she landed at Albany County airport and took a cab to a hotel where she met an unidentified informant.

Missy then picked up a truck and trailer, where she drove to Eric Canori’s home in Wilton. Some items in the trailer were then unloaded into his home. She was later stopped by investigators, where 400 pounds of marijuana were found in the trailer as well as in Canori’s home.

Giove and Eric Canori, face a maximum of 40 years in prison and a fine of $2 million if convicted.
