“Queen of the Blues” Koko Taylor Dies At Age 80 (Photos)

KoKo Taylor called the “Queen of the Blues” has died at the age of 80, after complications from surgery. Read more on Koko Taylor below.
Koko Taylor has died in Chicago on Wednesday after complications from her surgery. Taylor had surgery for internal bleeding two weeks before her death.
Taylor’s music career spanned more than five decades. She might not have found fame as a mainstream artist but had many loyal blues fans.
Koko’s hit songsĀ included “Wang Dang Doodle” and tunes such as “What Kind of Man is This” and “I Got What It Takes.”
Koko Taylor’s fellow blues legend Buddy Guy said of her passing: “What a loss to the blues world.” The head of The Blues Foundation said even at her age, Taylor was still the best female blues singer in the world, just as she was when she started back in the 1950s.
