Michael Vick Released From Prison To Serve Two Months Home Confinement
Posted on May 20, 2009
Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick was released from federal prison in Leavenworth, Kansas, early Wednesday. Read more on Michael Vick below.
Michael Vick was released from prison today but will serve his last two months of his 23-month sentence in home confinement in Virginia.
Vick, 28, pleaded guilty in August 2007 to federal charges of bankrolling a dogfighting business at a home he owned in Virginia.
Vick could return to playing professional football as soon as September if he is reinstated by the NFL. Vick did have a 10-year $140 million contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Michael Vick will be working at a Newport News construction company after his release, and will be in a documentary for a reported $600,000.
A bankruptcy judge denied a Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan presented by Vick, requesting he come up with a different plan.
This plan would have Vick come up with $750,000 to $1 million in cash to be paid to creditors, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro said, but added he saw no evidence Vick could come up with that amount.
Vick will be working with the Humane Society of the United States on anti-dogfighting campaigns, Humane Society President Wayne Pacelle told CNN on Tuesday.

It is great that he is going to be working for the Humane Society, in addition to serving his time in prison he has committed to helping solve the dogfighting problem long term. According to this most people believe he should be allowed to play again: http://www.newsy.com/videos/vick_s_release_sparks_debate
I don’t think he will be back until at least next year, until then he will be working construction.
