Rumors hit the internet stating that Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze had died from his pancreatic cancer at the age of 56, but these reports are denied by Swayze’s rep. Read more on Patrick Swayze’s cancer news below.

The internet as been swirling with rumors of Patrick Swayze’s death. But thankfully these are just rumors.

Swayze has been in a very public battle with pancreatic cancer, working despite his illness.

A radio station had reported that Patrick Swayze had died this morning, but it was not true.

“This is to confirm that Patrick Swayze did not pass away this morning contrary to severely reckless reports stemming from a radio station in Jacksonville, Florida,” his rep said. “Patrick Swayze is alive, well and is enjoying his life and he continues to respond to treatment.”

Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008 and had been undergoing chemotherapy and other treatments ever since.

The National Enquirer had stated at one time that Swayze was given only weeks to live, but Patrick has denied the reports.

“I am one of the lucky ones with pancreatic cancer that is responding well to the treatment,” he said in a statement at the time. “There is a brand new, 12-week old, Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy named Kumasai in my life who is gorgeous and already showing that he will be one special dog… I have so much to be thankful for at this time.”

It’s great to hear this was only a rumor. We all wish Patrick Swayze the best in his cancer battle.
