Dom DeLuise Dies At 75 (Photos)

Comedic actor Dom DeLuise, who was in comedy classics such as “The Cannonball Run” and “Blazing Saddles,” died at a Los Angeles hospital Monday night. Read more on Dom DeLuise’s life and death below.

TMZ reported DeLuise’s death, and his passing was cofirmed by his son, Michael DeLuise.

Dom DeLuise, 75, was well-known for his role in “Fatso” where he played a man constantly struggling with his weight until he meets his dream girl.

Former co-star Burt Reynolds spoke about his friend Dom DeLuise.

“Dom always made everyone feel better when he was around,” actor Burt Reynolds said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight. “I never heard him say an unkind word about anyone. I will miss him very much.”

Burt Reynolds starred with DeLuise in many movies, probably most remembered as being fake ambulance drivers in “The Cannonball Run.”

Dom DeLuise had a long-running career which included television, film and broadway. Dom appeared regularly on “The Dean Martin Summer Show” in 1966 and went on to host his own show in 1968. In the early 1990s, DeLuise also hosted “Candid Camera.”

DeLuise later began writing children’s books and cookbooks such as “Eat This . . . It’ll Make You Feel Better.”

He is survived by his wife, Carol Arthur, and three sons, Peter DeLuise, David DeLuise and Michael DeLuise.
