Greg Page’s wife, Patricia, found Page dead in his bed Monday morning. Patricia says he died of complications related to injuries he suffered in the fight.
Patricia told The Associated Press her husband “is in a better place now.”
The March 9, 2001 fight against Dale Crowe left Greg Page in a coma for nearly a week. Page then had a stroke and was paralyzed on his left side.
After the 2001 fight, Crowe began organizing boxing fundraisers to help pay for Page’s medical care. Crowe and Page remained friends with Page even going in 2002 to watch Crowe fight.
Crowe’s boxing career ended after beating and strangling a friend during an argument. Crowe was given 20 years in prison, which he is serving at Warren Correctional.
Patricia Page said funeral arrangements were pending.
