Phillies Announcer Harry Kalas has died at 73
Posted on April 13, 2009One of the great Baseball announcers, Harry Kalas passed away this morning while preparing for todays game at the Washington Nationals Stadium. Harry was found in the broadcasting booth by the Phillies director at 12:30 pm and taken to a local hospital.
Team President David Montgomery announced a short time after Kalas passed that “we have lost our voice.”
Kalas started his career as an original member of the Houston Astros’s broadcast team in 1965 and joined the Phillies back in 1971.
We will update this post as we learn more about the tragic death of Harry Kalas.
