Is Jessica Simpson’s country music career over? Reports state that Jessica Simpson is no longer with her Sony Nashville label. Read more below.
Jessica Simpson’s rep confirms the singer, 28, is no long with Sony Nashville’s label.
Earlier today, blogs were stating that Simpson was dropped from the label after her name was noticeably missing from both the Columbia Nashville and Sony Music Nashville websites.
And Jessica Simpson did not attend Sunday’s Academy of Country Music Awards, although she announced the nominees earlier this year.
But Jessica’s rep stated, “She was on loan to Sony Nashville for her country album.”
Simpson, who has released pop albums on the Epic label, “is and has always been an Epic artist,” her rep adds. “She continues to be on Epic’s label.”
Jessica’s country debut “Do You Know” actually debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard country charts, but it only sold 172,876 copies as of February.
Simpson also struggled as she opened for Rascal Flatts this year, often messing up lyrics or even completely forgetting them!
“I am a country girl. I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to,” she said.
But that doesn’t necessarily mean she is good at singing country music just because she grew up listening to it huh?
