OK Magazine has defended its decision to publish a “tribute” to cancer-stricken British reality star Jade Goody even though she is still alive. Read more on the OK Magazine cover of Jade Goody and her current condition below.
This week’s edition of OK! magazine is framed with a black border with a banner that reads “Jade Goody Official Tribute Issue 1981 – 2009″ and features the smaller headline “In loving memory.”
This tribute edition being released before Jade Goody’s death has outraged many!
Jade Goody rose to fame in 2002 on the UK’s edition of Big Brother. Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer last year, and revealed just last month that her cancer was terminal.
Jade married her long-term boyfriend Jack Tweed and sold the exclusive rights to cover the wedding to OK! for an estimated $970,000. Goody has defended her decision to marry and die in the public eye because the funds raised will go to her two sons Bobby, five, and Freddy, four.
OK! told the British Press Association that Jade Goody’s family had been in contact to say they thought the edition was “very kind.”
“Jade’s family have spoken to OK! today to reiterate that they understand the tribute issue and view it as being very kind to Jade.”
Jade has left the hospital for the last time to die at home surrounded by her family.
