Deadly Spider Called Brazilian Wandering Spider Found In Oklahoma Grocery Store (Photos)
Posted on March 18, 2009
One of the world’s most deadly spiders was found in a Tulsa, Oklahoma grocery store produce section. Read more on the Brazilian Wandering spider and see photos below.
An employee of Whole Foods Market found the Brazilian Wandering Spider on Sunday in bananas that came from Honduras. The employee was able to capture the spider in a container.
The spider was turned over to University of Tulsa Animal Facilities director Terry Childs who says this type of spider kills more people than any other.
Terry Childs says a bite from this spider would kill a person in about 25 minutes. There is an antidote but Childs does not know of any antedote in the Tulsa, OK area.
Spiders are often found in imported produce, and a manager at Whole Foods says the store regularly checks its shipped goods and that’s how the spider was found.
That is scary huh?
