Turkish Airlines Flight 1951 Crash (video, photos)

Turkish Airlines flight 1951 which was headed to Amsterdam from Istanbul crashed this morning at 10:40am.   The aircraft involved was a Boeing 737-800 crashed just outside Schiphol International Airport in a field situated right next to a neighborhood.   The aircraft had 127 passengers on board along with a crew of seven.  As it stands now, nine people were killed and more than 50 people were injured according to Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan.

The photos of the plane show the aircraft lying there in three pieces.  Not that I am an expert in aviation but it looks as if the airplane impacted tail first causing the plane to break into sections.  Investigators are looking into the crash now and I am sure more information will be provided to us.  According to Turkish Transportation Minister Binali Yildirim, at least 25 passengers are seriously injured. The captain of the plane, Hasan Tahsin Arisan is a very experienced, former air force pilot.

One of the passengers who escaped unharmed told NTV that the aircraft’s approach seemed fine and uneventful until it felt as if the plane had lost lift.  The plane seemed to not regain lift which was followed by turbulence before the pilot impacted the ground.  The passenger said the pilot made no warning about anything before the plane impacted.

I have a feeling this was caused by a downdraft of some sort.  If the plane was too close to the ground it would be unable to recover, a stall could have also caused this.   We will keep readers updated when we find out more details.
