Nova M host Randi Rhodes has been off the air for over a week now which has everyone wondering if Randi Rhodes has been fired. Read more on Randi Rhodes below.
Nova M co-owner Anita Drobny has stated on their company website, “I have not had the option to disclose what has been happening between Randi and Nova M.”
The statement continues, “I want you all to know that Nova M has done everything we can to get her back on the air. All this is her choice; if she wants to tell you all what the issue is, then I hope she does, but I can’t according to her contract rules. but I can tell you this I have wanted her back on the air. She’s an amazing talent and needs to be heard.”
She also thanks listeners for their support and summarizes by saying, “Randi now has to make her decision as to what she must do with her career.” Nancy Skinner has been filling in for Rhodes on the air.

Hope that whatever dispute the station and rhodes has, they can settle the same the soonest possible time… The listeners are waiting for her come back.. they shouldn’t make the waiting long… or if she is indeed fired, then they must say so.. so that there would be no rumors surrounding the issue..

I contacted the Nova M business office today 02-16-09 to inquire about Randi Rhodes and was told that she was NO Longer Affiliated with Nova M Radio. I said to Mr. G. Y. of Nova M “That was too bad” And promptly canceled my founders club membership.
I like Mike Malloy very much however I feel that Nova M was under pressure from Clear Channel to renegotiate Randi Rhodes contract to take over Randi’s sole control over her show content. We need to support progressive talk but we can not continue to allow the corporate media to control the content of progressive talk.
We had better start supporting the progressives out there and stop corporations from controlling the truth!
Randi Rhodes is the #1 progressive Talker in the country because no one owns her! Call your progressive radio stations and demand they Have Randi Rhodes on their station.

Nancy Skinner (Randi Rhodes replacement during absence) started the Monday, Feb 16th, with new theme music and announced it as the “Nancy Skinner Show”. Previously, she called it the Randi Rhodes show and used all of Randi’s music, and vocal drops. Furthermore, Mike Malloy, Nova M night show, started his show announcing Randi was no longer with Nova M (and he didn’t know how long he would be). He said he wasn’t in contact with Randi and if anyone knows how to contact Randi to let him know. He wished her all the best. Interesting, during the 3 hour Mike Malloy Show, Mike or Kathy only mentioned Nova M twice, instead of each break. Mike also made a point to state that NO ONE tells him what to say on his program.
I wish them both the best. Unfortunately, these hosts have a touch too much ego and when that’s combined with a no-mess-with-my-show clause in their contract, these shows tend to have longevity deficits.

The time slot that belongs to Randi – belongs to Randi. She needs to come back. Do what ever it takes.
Nancy is no Randi. I will not listen to Randi’s replacement (unless it is Mike Malloy)

This is serious. It’s part of the corporatization of everything. If this goes on and succeeds, soon we won’t be able to hear or see anything the corporations don’t want us to. We have to fight to get Randi back and and keep Mike Malloy .

We all wish she could come back, but Randi has made the decision not to return. The door has been closed and if Randi wants a radio show, I’m sure she will to try to put it together again like she did post Air America.
However, no one owns a time slot. With a little time Nancy will grow her own audience that will not include all of Randi’s fans. As someone has spent 30 years in broadcasting, I know, that given a good time slot, ANYONE will attract fans. The size of that audience is what makes the difference and determines whether the show lives or dies. Only time will tell.
There’s always the possibility that Randi may not want to do another show. Remember, she has found romance with Howard, and that might be all she wants right now.

I support Randi and am cancelling my Founders Club membership at Nova M. I am irritated to be paying for Nancy Skinner shows. I am more irritated not to benefit from Randi’s research and sharp insights during this crucial time in our country’s history. It is SO NOT about her personality, time slots, who is entertaining or nice … it is about an informed electorate. If she has an ego, that is the engine that has kept her going in spite of incredible odds, and we are the beneficiaries. We have to wise up and fight to retain our link to information and analysis we need — that Randi provides. Nancy Skinner spent a good portion of the weekend on Fox and Fox Business networks, Mike Huckabee’s show, the “Strategie Room” — people, this is just sickening. Sorry, Nancy, and sorry, Randi, if she is your friend … but listeners NEED Randi Rhodes. Period.

I think Randi would be better off on the 9pm to midnight slot. She likes to use some pretty rough language more appropriate for the night time listeners. Also, Mike Malloy bores me. Also, the guy is raising a kid and maybe he wouldn’t be so depressed on an afternoon show. He is excellent with teenagers, but not the late nighters. So, I say switch Randi and Mike.

Nancy Skinner has a nice personality, but she doesn’t have the deep knowledge of current events that someone like Randi or Tom Hartman have. I heard Nancy debating a right-wing talk show host and she was just shouting stuff. If she knew the subject, she could have made the other woman look like the idiot that she was. No wonder FOX News puts her on the air to argue for the progressive side. She’s a very weak debater.
If people can make up after telling each other that it’s over, then maybe there’s hope that Randi and Nova M can do the same.

For eight long years amid the crashing noise of America falling into deception and lies from on high my only source of sanity was Randi Rhoades and I raved and cussed with Mike Malloy. Only then could I sleep. I take freedom very seriously. Without Randi I feel like the last Salamon in a vain attempt to make it home. She is a brilliant person, so…… thank you Randi wherever you are.

If you hated Randi, then you hated the truth. The facts were on her side, like it or not. She wasn’t born big, she clawed her way up. Any fool that thinks this is a good thing should vacation in Gitmo. The screws are being put to the last real liberal station. I’m sure Malloy will be next. Randi Rhodes is one of the worst ego maniacs ever to be on radio. I did this, I did that, I know Al Gore, yada yada yada. I found this and her extreme rudeness to even liberal callers; talking over them, yelling at them, calling them stupid simply because they disagreed with her on some small point or other, it was too much and very annoying. Her ego was always in the picture.
OTOH she had good almost encyclopedic knowledge of the inner workings of the new fascist regime and was not afraid to say what she really thought. Even if I did not agree with her all the time, and found her personality grating, I think she should be on the air.
If this is a clear channel hit, then it must be resisted.
More likely though, this is Randi asking for mo money, which, in her mind at least, she is sure she deserves.

I too will do what is possible to bring Randi back. Her replacement is shallow and full of herself, and I have no interest in her. Randi saved my life thru the elections. I laugh with her and at her. I love you Randi, absolutely love you and I am thankful for you, same as I am thankful for Rosa Parks and others who have changed the world. Here in Denver,I listen to 760, even when the old guys go on and on, usually missing the point…because at 1:00 I get my fix of Randi. Let me know what I can do. This is absurd.

Please put Randi back on the air.
She has her own style and though she may not be very tactful,
her commentary is always right on the money. Randi is an
extremely creative, astute thinker. Her ideas are often clever and innovative and every time she makes a perceptive point, I often hear it parroted the next day on another progressive show.
We need people like her, unfortunately there are not that many available. Please do what it takes to bring her back! Our country is too important!!!!

I agree 110% with Gary above about Randi Rhodes’ rudness and disrespect for, not only her callers, but her guests as well… I used to LOVE her, but absolutely grew to HATE HER for this very reason… Just like Hillary Clinton, Randi Rhodes’ PERSONALITY will forever serve as a “governor” ( mechanical reference ) to hold her back, keeping her from ever becoming as big as she COULD BE! I became weary of Randi’s idealogies which could be blind at times. I recently called in expressing skepticism regarding Pres. Obama’s real support of the LGBT community and she shot me down by yelling “You know you’re wrong!” even though Obama in 1996 then State Senator Obama unequivocally stated same-sex marriage should be legalized but then before the primaries he public changed his view to marriage should be between a man and a woman. And I was one of millions of Californians who received a phone call from “Yes on 8″ on election eve using HIS own comments which eventually resulted in invalidating same sex marriage in California. Unfortunately I NEVER got to say this on the air because Randi terminated my call. I lost respect for her from then on as she employs censorship herself.

You should read the forums of the radio stations that carried her. So-called listeners are posting how they are glad she is gone, and that she actually wasn’t so factual, etc. This is very concerning to me. I like many of the other Progressive talkers, but NO ONE has the political depth of Randi Rhodes. Her background searching and exposing of the facts is number one. I’m grateful for all the links to websites and news sources she provided. We need her on the air, and frankly, I think WE should take action: call our representatives and request an investigation into what has happened, as a representative of our voice in the fourth estate is now silent.

I miss Randi so much, When she left air america I thought all was lost then I found her on xm radio. so I bought the radio required and signed up and was sooooo happy that I again had access to the voice of thruth with a backup should I want to research the information myself. I just have to say that my day is so much less filling without Randi. Nancy Skinner, I just shake my head and wonder what she is doing on a left wing radio with all she is talking about fox and her shows on fox business. It feels like she is a walking advertisement for the fox channel. I personally would listen to a private session of Randi. I wish I were her friend so I could call her and just talk about what she thinks and see if there is anything I could help her with. dont mean to sound corny but I do miss her so.

I live in Phoenix, AZ, and one day Nova M was gone with no explanation. If Nancy Skinner is Randi’s replacement then good riddance to Nova M. We need a strong left wing talk show host and not some complacent corportate-led watered down replacement. I want Randi Rhoades, Jim Ferrias, Tom Hartman etc back on the air in Phoenx. Dn’t bother if we can’t get the real deals.

Randi killed Nova M. Plain and simple. She had a clause to pull out at any time and she exercised it. Nova M was counting on revenue coming from syndication of Randi. She walks, Nova M dies.
She now works for Premier Networks (Clear Channel). How FU is that?
