Brazilian Model Mariana Bridi da Costa Dies (Photos)

The Brazilian model and beauty queen contestant Mariana Bridi da Costa, 20, has died from complications of her mysterious illness. Mariana Bridi died Saturday morning from a heart attack.

Below is the tragic story of Mariana Bridi’s illness:

Mariana Bridi da Costa’s stomach had to be removed during her most recent surgery because of internal bleeding.

“Continue praying for her. The doctors are doing everything that is humanly possible to save her, but only God can really save your (sic) life,” says the most recent post by Renato Lindgren.

Mariana Bridi underwent emergency surgery this week after a viral infection spread to her blood.

Bidi, 20, became ill on December 30, her boyfriend, Thiago Simoes, told the U.K.’s Daily Mail newspaper. She was first told she had a kidney stone and sent home from the hospital.

Two days later she was back in the hospital in the southeast Brazil town of Serra. Doctors then diagnosed her with a severe urinary tract infection, and noticed her losing circulation in her hands and feet.  Doctors had to amputate her feet and then her hands.

After the amputation surgeries, she suffered an internal haemorrhage and had another emergency operation on Wednesday afternoon, the Daily Mail reported. Bridi is waiting on a transfusion of the hard-to-match blood type O-negative.

More than 100 people have donated blood in her name, according to the blog site.

Bridi is a two-time finalist in the search for Brazil’s Miss World contestant in 2006 and 2007. She also represented Brazil in the 2007 Miss Bikini International competition, taking sixth place and an award for Most Beautiful Body.

“We are all absolutely distraught and are just praying now that she can pull through,” her boyfriend said.
