Back in 1985 when she was a news anchor, Oprah Winfrey used to smoke crack according to her old boyfriend, Randolph Cook who included this information in his book. Betcha this book won’t be included in Oprah’s book suggestions.
Her former boyfriend, Randolph Cook, had this to say:
“Oprah made a “rock” of cocaine and baking soda in the tube and heated it, a method known as freebasing.
“[Oprah] then put the lit torch on the rock, inhaled and held the smoke in her lungs for a long time. When she finally exhaled, she began to shake violently as she put the pipe down, she had trouble catching her breath and her eyes got big as saucers.”
We smoked at least a couple of times a week. Sometimes we would smoke up until her limo was waiting to take her to the studio to perform her show…”
Oprah had actually confirmed her drug-use in a show that she had taped back in the 80’s. She revealed the following:
“In my 20’s, I’d done this drug and I know exactly what you are talking about.” She said the drug use occurred while she was an anchorwoman on a television news show.
“It’s my life’s great big secret. It was such a secret because–I realize (with) the public person I have become–if the story ever were revealed, the tabloids would exploit it and what a big issue it would be.”
She went on to explain, “But I was involved with a man in my 20s who introduced me to the same drug that you’ve been talking about and, like Patrice, I always felt that the drug itself is not the problem but that I was addicted to the man.” She admitted: “I can’t think of anything I wouldn’t have done for that man.”
So evidently the fact that Oprah smoked crack back in the 1980’s is true by her own admission, but the question remains who introduced who to doing crack?

It was not revealed that she did drugs in the 80s. That was when she smoked it. The show in which she revealed it was in the mid 90s(1995 or so). On her own show. In the 80s Oprah was an anchorwoman. What did she do, walk onto the weatherman’s set and scream it into the camera?

I was on the show in January 1995 when she admitted drug use…..I was one of the drug addicted mothers she interviewed and had actually been speaking when she admitted this to me. I can tell you that the strength it took for her to admit what she had been through to critics worldwide gave me the added strength to continue my personal battle. I am still clean today and I have pulled alot of strength from her words of encouragement and her selfless confession throughout the years. She helped me see that I was much more than a drug addict and that not only could I beat this horrible addiciton – I could succeed and be somebody – a productive citizen and a mother to my children. I may not be a celebrity, but I am a healthy, clean and sober productive member of society…….
