Sarah Palin has been on tons of interviews recently, even calling some of her critics “jerks”. But McCain showed up on “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno to make fun of himself, as well as say nice things about Palin as well as Obama. See more on McCain’s Leno interview below.

John McCain made an appearance on Jay Leno’s “The Tonight Show” and wanted to make certain his supporters did not blame Sarah Palin for their loss to Barack Obama.

McCain joked around about how he has dealt with his loss on Election Day.

“I’ve been sleeping like a baby,” McCain told Leno about the aftermath of his Election Day disappointment. “Sleep two hours, wake up and cry, sleep two hours, wake up and cry.”

When asked about the scene when he drove away from his campaign for the last time, McCain said he went to buy a coffee. “But not the newspaper. I knew what that was going to say.”

The defeated presidential contender even filmed a short skit with Leno, telling the host that he would be working on the transition team … for Conan O’Brien, the “Late Night” host who is scheduled to take over Leno’s job next year.

“I’m so proud of her and I’m very grateful she agreed to run with me. She inspired people, she still does,” McCain told Jay Leno during an “Tonight Show” interview taped for broadcast Tuesday night. “I couldn’t be happier with Sarah Palin.”
Asked by Leno about griping about Palin from unidentified McCain operatives in the days following the election, the Arizona senator said, “These things happen in campaigns.

“I think I have at least a thousand, quote, top advisers,” he scoffed. “A top adviser said? I’ve never even heard of … a top adviser or high-ranking Republican official.”
