Rahm Emanuel could become Chief of Staff
Posted on November 5, 2008Rahm Emanuel, the US Representative for Illinois 5th district is reportedly a contender for Obamas Chief of Staff. Emanuel is a 48 year old song of an immigrant who began his career working with the consumer rights organization Public Action.
Emanuel is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College in 1981, he recieved his Masters Degree in Speech and Communication from Northwestern University in 1985.
Rahm Emanuel has been very involved with politics throughout his career. He is the fourth ranking Democrat in the House. He has been chairman of the Democractic Congressional Campaign Committee for the 2006 elections. Following the 2006 election, he was elected the next chairman of the Democratic Caucus.
Rahm also served as the political and policy adviser to President Clinton. He has a very strong style and his ability to raise a lot of money has elevated his stature considerably. In 2006, Emanuel co-authored the book The Plan: Big Ideas for America.
Emanuel is very experienced when it comes to politics and Capitol Hill. If chosen, Obama could make the announcement as early as this week.
