Barack Obama took his last shot at a sales pitch to US television viewers last night with a 30-minute peak-time commercial aired on seven channels at a cost of up to $5 million. But was it worth the money spent? It truly feels like an Obama informercial. See the 30 Minute Obama Ad video below.

The half-hour video didn’t even mention Senator John McCain or President George W Bush. Instead he sought to focus on his background and plans for the presidency. “I will not be a perfect president,” Obama said, speaking in a setting that resembled the Oval Office. “But I can promise you this – I will always tell you what I think and where I stand.”

Meanwhile Bill Clinton last night passed on the baton to Barack Obama when he campaigned alongside his wife Hillary’s former rival for the first time last night. At a midnight rally in Florida, the former President declared Obama “represents America’s future” and said that he was honoured to voice my support for Barack Obama as president.”

“Our country is hanging in the balance. And we have so much promise and so much peril. This man should be our president – all of our presidents – and this man will be our president unless the American people forget what this election is about.”
