Republican presidential candidate John McCain offered his apology just after sitting down onstage and being playfully asked by Letterman, “Can you stay?”
David Letterman has jokingly “badtalked” McCain ever since he canceled his “Late Show” appearance on September 24th, in order to work on the economy problems.
Letterman said said he felt like an “ugly date,” and chose McCain’s critic Keith Olbermann of MSNBC to fill in for McCain that night.
On Thursday, McCain was bound and determined to make it for his appearance on Letterman’s show. After his campaign plane was grounded due to the weather, McCain flew by helicopter from Philadelphia to New York in order to be on Letterman.

Letterman at his very best!!! Especially in the 2nd half of the McCain interview! Good to see that both -at least somewhat- kept their sense of humor in all of this though.
