Nik Wallenda Sets HighWire Record On Today Show (Video)
Posted on October 15, 2008
Nik Wallenda, a 7th generation of the “Flying Wallenda’s” circus acrobats, went on “The Today Show” and rode a pedal bike across the highest and longest highwire ever, without a safety net! Check on Nik Wallenda’s video as he sets the highwire record.
Nik Wallenda set the highwire record today by riding a pedal bike across a highwire that was 13 stories high and more than 200 feet long. Pretty damn amazing!
The high-wire daredevil who hoped to set a world record has finished his bike ride 135 feet above Newark without a net.
There were some scary moments with spectators afraid Nik Wallenda would fall. Nik Wallenda did sit down with the Today show at one point, stating the wind was stronger than he thought.
Wallenda scared the crowd when he rebalanced on the wire during the 235 foot walk across the wire, which was suspended between two cranes next to the Prudential Center arena. But he then rode the bike back.
Wallenda wants a place in Guinness World Records for the longest distance and greatest height ever traveled by a bike on the wire.
The stunt coincided with the return of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus to Newark after a 52-year absence.
Pretty cool, check on Nik Wallenda in these Today Show Videos:
