Sadie Holmes, who appeared on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in February of 2006 is in danger of losing her home due to code violations.

The ABC network show built her not just a $400,000, 5000-square-foot home, but also included a 2000-square-foot office for Sadie Holmes Help Services, the non-profit charity organization she runs.

The Florida Seminole County Sheriff’s Office has cited Sadie Holmes with a variety of code violations on her home. These violations include keeping portable restrooms, abandoned vehicles, and an oversized truck on the premesis. These code violations have totaled $29,000 with a lien being placed on the property for the fines, even though Sadie removed these as requested.

Holmes said to the Orlando Sentinel, “I’m grateful for this building, but it’s causing me too much stress and too much problems.”

Sadie Holmes is the single mother to five, and is herself a recovering drug addict. Holmes lost her home in 2005 after Hurricane Charley and an electrical fire.

Sadie Holmes has said she will file an appeal regarding the lien and attempt to save her home.

Hopefully ABC will step in and help Sadie keep her home. It’s wonderful when they build these huge homes for the needy, but can they afford even the bills on 4,000 sq. foot homes?

Why should ABC step up & help Sadie Holmes keep the home they were so generous in building for her in the first place? I feel bad for her & the possibility of losing her home, but it was due to code violations that this occurred. ABC & the Extreme Team had nothing at all to do with this, she brought this on herself. I am a Seminole County resident & I know there are residential codes that we all must abide by. Blatent disregard for the law does not warrant giving additional help to anyone.
Granted what Ms. Holmes is doing for her community is commendable & her cleaning up her act is great, however, it does not give her the right to violate county codes & expect someone to come along & bail her out.
