James Earl Jones Death? Nope! But Jones Will Receive A Lifetime Achievement Award (Photos)

Searches on the internet seem to be for terms such as “James Earl Jones died”, and “James Earl Jones Death”. Thankfully that is not the case, but actor James Earl Jones will be receiving the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement award. Known for his distinctive deep voice, James Earl Jones has been the voice for some of television and movie’s most memorable characters.

James Earl Jones will be presented with SAG’s Lifetime Achievement award. President of SAG, Alan Rosenberg called Jones “a vocal presence without peer” and lauded his TV, film and stage work.
“His long and quiet devotion to advancing literacy, the arts and humanities on a national and local scale deserves our appreciation,” Rosenberg said Thursday.
James Earl Jones, who said he was mute as a child because due to his stuttering problem, credits reading with helping him find his voice.
“Through a love of reading, I was able to overcome my muteness and pursue a career in which my voice would be my most prominent asset,” the 77-year-old actor said.
James Earl Jones is known to fans of all ages as the voice of Darth Vader in “Star Wars” and Mufasa in Disney’s “The Lion King”.
Jones has already won many honors such as two Tony awards, three Emmy’s, an Oscar nom, and the National Medal of Arts. Now James Earl Jones can add the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award to his trophies.
He will be presented with the Life Achievement Award at the Screen Actors Guild awards on Jan. 25.
