Jenny McCarthy, former model, Playmate, and host, has spoken out recently on child vaccination dangers, as well as been vocal on her son’s autism. McCarthy is stirring up controversy by saying that her autistic son has been “cured”. Many parents are upset by Jenny’s statements.

McCarthy says that after a change in diet and vitamins, has helped cure her son Evan of his autism. Evan also receives B-12 shots and McCarthy says this treatment is really working.

“I’ve been speaking to moms across the country who are all shouting out the same thing: ‘This (diet and supplement intake) is working,” Jenny said.

“It’s so heartbreaking to see the medical community not support something called diet and vitamins. And it pains us, city after city after city. I see this heartbreak on these mom’s faces.”

“Autism isn’t covered by (medical) insurance. If things like diets and supplements are working, then why not support it? These kids are getting better and I will not shut up and will not stop fighting about it.”

Of course there is controversy surrounding Jenny’s claims that the diet and supplement plan is working. Some think Jenny is giving parents of autistic children “false hope”. But if Jenny truly has found something that works for her son, why not share it with others?

Recently Jenny McCarthy was angered by statements made by actress Amanda Peet. Peet said that parents that do not vaccinate their children are “parasites”. Of course this angered many parents who believe the vaccines are what caused their child’s autism.

“She (Amanda) has a lot of [nerve] to come forward and be on that side, because there is an angry mob on my side, and I like the fact that I can say she’s completely wrong,” Fox News quoted Jemmy McCarthy as having told Spectrum magazine .

“I look at (Amanda) now and say to myself, ‘That was me before I had autism in my life,’ and until she walks in our shoes, she really has no idea,” McCarthy added. Besides McCarthy, the national autism advocacy group Autism United has also expressed anger at Amanda’s comment, and called for a boycott of all of the actress’ movies.

McCarthy and her boyfriend comedian and actor, Jim Carrey have continued their crusade this past summer, and led a rally of thousands in Washington, D.C., to put pressure on the federal government to remove toxins from vaccines and fight for fewer childhood vaccinations prior to the age of two.

How do you feel about Jenny McCarthy being so vocal about the vaccinations and autism cure? Do you feel at least she is using her celebrity to get the word out?
