Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol Palin, 17, is pregnant. Palin announced her daughter’s pregnancy news to stop the rumors going around about Palin faking her pregnancy to cover up for Bristol.

The photos above were found on a chick named Mercede’s myspace (private) and show Bristol and Trig, Sarah Palin, Bristol and Trig, Mercede and Trig, and there’s even a photo of Levi Johnson and Bristol. Check those out above!

The father of Bristol Palins baby is Wasilla teen, Levi Johnston, a source confirmed to late Monday night.

The hockey player attended alternative school Burchell High School last year.

The only thing is, could this be Bristol’s second pregnancy? Or is Trig actually Sarah’s baby boy? Well, we do know that Trig Palin is 4 months old. Trig Palin was born April 18, 2008. If Bristol Palin is 5 months pregnant, she would have had to have gotten pregnant immediately after giving birth to Trig. So makes you wonder if the stories are false and Sarah Palin is the actual mother to Trig?

Bristol Palin, one of Alaska Gov. Palin’s five children with her husband, Todd, is about five months pregnant and is keeping the baby and has plans to marry the father. That explains the photo above where Bristol appears to be wearing an engagement or wedding ring on her finger.

The Palins made the announcement today which was released by the John McCain campaign headquarters.

Bristol Palin made the decision on her own to keep the baby, McCain aides said. Sources have said the father of Bristol’s baby is named Levi.

“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us,” the Palins’ statement said.

“Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support,” the Palins said.

The Palins asked the news media to respect their daughter Bristol’s privacy in this matter.

“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media, respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates,” the statement concluded.

McCain and his officials knew about Palin’s daughter’s pregnancy, when he chose Palin as his vice presidential running mate.

McCain officials said the news of the daughter’s pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called “mud-slinging and lies” circulating on liberal blog sites.

According to these rumors, Sarah Palin had faked a pregnancy and pretended to have given birth in May to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor was that Trig was actually Bristol Palin’s child and that Sarah Palin was the grandmother.

A senior McCain campaign official said the McCain camp was appalled that these rumors had not only been spread around liberal blog sites and partisan Democrats, but also were the subject of heightened interest from mainstream news media.

The news was out there and this is a gossip website, so of course we will report on an interesting story.

So now we know Bristol, 17, is currently pregnant, but could baby Trig still be hers?

  1. How could Palin have agreed to be the VP candidate knowing it subject her vulnerable, pregnant child to worldwide ridicule?

Parents make choices for their kids all the time – turn down promotions, choose not to move to that other school district, reduce hours at work.

This would have seemed like an easy one. In 2012 or 2016 Palin would have been a better, not worse, candidate for national office, and a race then would not have exacted such a price from her child.

I’m even wondering why McCain, who claims he knew all about it, wasn’t decent enough to take the wellbeing of the child into account and pass over Palin.

  2. Just because Bristol is pregnant now, doesn’t mean she wasn’t pregnant last fall. The timing is right. Per the McCain campaign, she is “about 5 months”…which probably means she is 4 months.

So…young Bristol has Baby #1 and Sarah and Todd help her out by agreeing to raise baby as own. Unfortunately, Bristol is sexually active, and because of their moral “abstinence only” value, she gets pregnant again.

It’s unfortunate that the Palin family has these troubles. But, really — how could John McCain make Palin his VEEP? What an example of the erratic decision making of John McCain.

  3. That’s exactly the kind of photo that Fox News, the New York Post, and other Hillary-haters have posted for the past 15-years, and especially during the current presidential race. Sarah Palin is going to get a very long taste of the same medicine. Maybe once both left and right have experienced how frustrating it is to have a female candidate they are serious about, only to see the other side endlessly portray her as “ditzy” or “crazy” through photos…maybe then female candidates will get the same respect in photo selection that male candidates usually get. Not holding my breath, though…

  4. This Palin family seems pretty dysfunctional. Sarah Palin needs to spend more time and energy than she has on raising her 17 year old and her 5 month old son/grandson. She has been irresponsible. You can’t just be pro-life until the birth and then disregard your responsibilities the second the child is born. I’m sorry – but the fact is that the family of the candidates are also running for office. What kind of message does this family send to other US families? Either teach your daughter not to have premarital teenage sex OR be realistic and get her on reliable birth control. The US population now and in the future will need to be globally competitive for our middle class to have any sort of decent standard of living. Guess what – having children out of wedlock at 17 is the opposite of what our young people need to be doing right now. The Palin’s are a poor example for our country. This family seems strangely focused on irresponsible breeding – age 44/downs syndrome/demanding job as governor – now US VP candidate! + age 17 unmarried teen! Ladies, get yourselves under control!

  5. I couldn’t agree more, This is a truly sad situation:( I respect Ms. Palin for sticking by her daughter but do the American people really need a poster child for being pregnant at 17 and it being “okay”…How is this young girl going to finish her education and go to college? She will need her mom NOW more than EVER before in her life…!I would ask how old “Levi” is as well? Is he too a highschool kid? I can only guess that this girl and her boyfriend don’t have jobs and will be living in the VP residence with her parents?

What was Mr. McCain thinking? Also on another blog it is being reported that Ms. Palin’s husband has been arrested for a DUI? Did he NOT vett her at all? What type of decision is this? I am very upset with Mr. McCain and his recent decisions…Not because he picked Ms. Palin because she seems so nice and ambitious but because it is obvious that he didn’t think this decision through before making it…This woman has SO MUCH on her plate already and I imagine her heart must have just broken when she learned her baby was going to have a baby…Her daughter needs her and the role of the VP may be more than we can ask her to handle…Some people do so much all the time that they need others to tell them…Hey give yourself a rest, you’ve earned it! Mr. McCain wasn’t thinking about this woman or her family when he tapped her…I am very dissapointed in him:(

  6. According to

Although no one knows for sure why DS occurs and there’s no way to prevent the chromosomal error that causes it, scientists do know that women age 35 and older have a significantly higher risk of having a child with the condition. At age 30, for example, a woman has about a 1 in 900 chance of conceiving a child with DS. Those odds increase to about 1 in 350 by age 35. By 40 the risk rises to about 1 in 100.
Bristol is 17 and Gov. Palin is 44
    You do the math!

  7. Yes, because its entirely impossible that a parent could teach there kid about a) not having premarital sex and b) using birth control and the child would disregard both as an older teen… holy sh*t, a teenager rebelled and did it with her boyfriend? oh my god, a teen in middle of no where Alaska had sex and got pregnant? shocking…

Please, how will she finish her high school degree? easily, GED, get life together, apply to college. done…

  8. I think Sarah Palin will make a great VP or President Of the USA. She is proving in many ways how important it is to obey God’s commandment “Thou shall not kill.” Her daughter having sex outside of marriage must be upsetting but she and her husband are doing the right thing, they are supporting her. As for the other rumors many of you are spreading, I think it is more important that we like into our own lives, which we know more about, and go about improving them. Spreading stories that are not important to our lives is wasteful.

  10. This is a plus. As Mark Steyn points out in his recent best seller, America Alone, if our western civilization is demographically to survive in the increasingly “hostile to the west” islamic world — and not end up like the sinking European populations — these are the precise people (the Bristol Palins’) we should thank for increasing their progeny.

  11. My thoughts and prayers go out to Sarah Palin and her family. I personally feel her family needs her more now than ever before.

I can not even begin to imagine the demands on her life and to compile an election to one of the highest offices in the World VP of the USA next to the Presidency is just overwhelming. It is not that women can’t have it all they certainly can they just can’t have it all at once. Something is going to suffer.

With a special needs child and a teenage daughter giving birth in 4 months approximately the same time when she would take office I just don’t see how humanly possible she could focus on the job description as VP.

I am a democrat and if she was on the Democratic ticket I would feel the same way. She should have declined and put her family first for at least 4 more years. She is young and would have only been 48 if she seeks a National platform.

  12. Everyone makes mistakes, judge ye not lest ye be judges. The second thought any one with out sin cast the first stone. Give this girl a break. I think the Democrats should hold their remarks remember Bill Clinton and he was President. Give
the Palin’s the privacy they deserve.

  13. John McMoron already had the cracker vote, he didn’t need Palin. Bristol was out of school for the last five months of Palin’s pregnancy, a pregnancy which none of Palin’s staff even noticed.

Gee, this sounds like a case for Sherlock Holmes. The GOP was pretty much doomed this year, now they sure are.

  14. Sarah Palin gave birth to a baby with Down’s Syndrome at the age of 44.

Is anyone else appalled at this?

The risk of giving birth to a baby with Down’s Syndrome is extremely high in women over 40 (and even higher when the father is also over 40).

Sarah Palin “opposes the use of birth control pills and condoms even among married couples”.

I am disgusted by this irresponsible behaviour. To give birth at age 44 to a baby with Down’s because you refuse to use birth control inexcusable. Ignoring the dangers that you expose yourself and your baby to by refusing to use birth control after 40 is negligent and careless. To believe that a woman like this has the opportunity to become Vice President of the United States of America in 2008 makes me ill.

Does anyone else share this opinion?

  15. What kind of a mother is this Sarah “Stupid, Ambitious” Pailin? Seriously, what kind of a role model is she for teenage women if she cant even eduacate her own children not to get pregnant at such a young age. Looking at a political stand point I dont think she is able to lead the country especially during this troubling times. She is way over her head. She is not a good VP pick.

  16. @ Renee:
the father is 26… they started dating 3 years ago – so at the time, a 14 year old dating a 23 year old.

Given that they’ve been dating for 3 years, I think it’s safe to assume that Sarah and her husband knew about this relationship.

Interesting family indeed. Sarah Palin showing some great judgment right there… God help us if these people end up winning the election.

  17. To #8: Most children with Down’s Syndrome are born to women under 30. Bad thing happen.

In one scenario, the plan was for Trig to be given up for adoption after a secret birth, but that plan fell apart when it was learned that he had Down’s.

Five months pregnant? Maybe four? Not that unusual to have two children within a year.

Maybe Bristol isn’t currently pregnant at all and this announcement is just a cover-up for the last pregnancy which would get her mother into trouble for insurance fraud (making claims for a person not covered by her health insurance). By mid-November she could stop being pregnant. Those things sometimes happen and, for most, it’s unfortunate.

“What a tangled web we weave….”

Of course, the Palins could be telling the truth. There are some simple tests which can resolve all of the questions.

  18. Anyone who thinks that parents have absolute control of their children is naive. Even in the most functional and loving homes with parents who have mentored intelligent, educated, moral, and socially aware children, there is the incidence of teen pregnancy.

It’s how it is handled that makes the difference: taking personal responsibility for one’s actions on the part of the teenager and taking responsibility for the actions of the minor by the parents.

The Palins are doing the right thing.

And also consider how disturbing it is to the mother-to-be this to have something so intensely private thrust into the spotlight.

    Let’s leave them alone.

  19. I guess if America was stupid enough to elect mccain after his ridiculous pick, than we can start a new reality show called Confessions of Mr MOm, a new reality show, or perhaps a new cartoon to replace Lil Bush. No matter what happens liberal rage always produces some of the greatest creativity. If people someone can cash in on disaster than they are brilliant.

  20. #23, So you think it is good parenting to have a pregnant 17 year old and a DS 5 month at home without a mother? If this women had a shed of integrity as a woman and mother she would have said thanks but no thanks to McCain. Instead, she is an opportunist and moral disgrace.

  21. If Dan Quayle can be VP I’m sure Sarah Palin can handle the job. Stop harassing this family. I’d much rather have a go getter like Sarah Palin than boring Joe Biden. Let her husband handle the kids. He can afford to be a stay at home dad

  22. Well Dan Quayle even though he was a politician of very little brain did have good moral values and those good moral values qualified him to be George H. W. Bush’s good looking poster boy. Of course he was smart enough to probably teach his kids about sex. I think Quayle had a likeable side; in fact I actually did vote GOP for a year or two.

Common sense strongly went out the window after the 2000 election and the election of the great American hero George W. Bush. I think Sarah Palin is just another puppy dog of the far right. She most likely supports abstinence programs and believes premarital sex is wrong, yet she can’t teach her own daughter about that.

I guess when a political party tries to disresepect the seperation of church and state, and bring God into politics it only ends in disaster. Hopefully Mccain will either get smart and withdraw Mrs Palin’s name from the ballot, or he will just prove us right that he will continue to support Bush’s third term.

Palin should be a good steward of the earth as it says in the Holy Bible. INstead she is on the way to making Alaskan wildlife extinct.

  23. The McCain camp says Bristol Palin chose to not have an abortion, keep the baby, and marry the father: How on earth could she realistically have a choice given her mother's political career?

And as for choosing to have a baby that Sarah Palin knew would have Down's: That may be a realistic choice for a well-off individual like Sarah Palin who can afford around the clock childcare, but it would be a horrific burden for most American families, impacting not just the parents but the children also.

The extreme anti-abortion stance of Palin may work for her personally, but she seeks to impose that on women and families for which the results will be devastating.

That she supports increased services for the disabled is small comfort: In the face of a huge federal deficit, it seems entirely unlikely that a Palin (or McCain/Palin) administration will be able to substantially improve the lot of the disabled.

  24. I don't think any well educated sensible mom wants her daughter not-finishing-high-school-but-gets-pregnant. So if a pregnant 17-year-old is "not" exactly what Sarah Palin planned to have but she ends up with one, what does it say about her? It says Sarah Palin has poor judgment in handling what she is responsible for. In other words, she cannot handle her job. She miscalculated. She lost focus on priorities. If she can't lead her daughter, how is she to lead a nation? McCain's choice of Sarah Palin is an insult to all intellectuals, children, parents, educators, and community leaders!

  25. The risk of a woman having a child with Down Syndrome increases if she is over the age of 35. And, although it is not unheard of, it is not likely that a woman would get pregnant quite so quickly after having given birth. It usually takes a few months, at least, to get pregnant again. These are a few reasons that it's MORE LIKELY that Trig is Sarah Palin's SON, not Bristol's.

  27. in her interview with charlie rose posted on utube on aug 29, 2008, palin states that her one and only son who is 18 has joined the military. so there is truth in her posing as the mother of the infant down syndrome son. her daughter must be actually the mom.
