Kirk Cameron is only acting out what he beleives, just because he is not willing to mess up his beautiful relationship with his beautiful hot wife, who acts like she adores him, and obviously they know something that 90% of the world dont know, Doesnt mean that he is not a good actor or weak man, a man who cheats on his wife is a weak and pitiful man, dont tell me that it is ok to go around liplocking with other men and women when you actally love your husband or wife. I am glad that kirk cameron stood strong! Real man are strong and true to what they beleive! and good greif did somebody actually say “leave the acting to real professionals” ? it makes you a real proffesional because you can dick around? sheeesh

I haven’t seen the movie yet; however my hairdresser was telling me about it yesterday and that is the reason that I am on this site now. I highly respect anyone that would “only kiss their spouse” especially in the “acting world”. Once we start compromising our convictions it makes the next thing a little easier to rationalize. To me…Kirk is a “real man”.

Kirk and chelsea met playing a couple on Growing Pains, they kissed and made out (the wholesome kind of TV way..But still)maybe they they know how easily things can develop. The producers of Fireproof did not have a kiss at the end of the movie- they already a rule a non couple kissing would not kiss in the movies they made. When they were filming they ask Kirks wife so the ending would be more impacting.keep in mind this movie is made for the christian audience to renew thier commitments, I am not surprised most of the posters don’t get it. they are looking at it from a cynical world view. I say go Kirk and Chelsea they know what works for them, and thats all that matters. I want to see more of them in christian Media.

My husband and I just watched this together for Valentine’s Day. I am so glad we did! We could see ourselves in the early days of our marriage and now 15 years and 6 kids later we love eachother more than ever before. I am so glad we stuck through the rough times because now we really appreciate the good times. He is my best friend and I am proud to call him my husband!

In response to Chris, the actor on 2-8-09:
Even if you are acting, you are still actually kissing someone. If an actor is an alcoholic and is asked to do a scene drinking, does he have to drink actual alcohol? Temptation comes in many forms. Lots of famous married actors have crossed the line with other actors after having sexual or intimate scenes with them…even the professional actors. There’s nothing wrong with staying away from situations that might get you into trouble.
And as far as being a Catholic and where is it in the Bible….there are lots of teachings that aren’t in the Bible. If you were a well- read Christian, you would know that. Lying isn’t an abomination either but it is breaking one of the Ten Commandments. Turning away from God comes in many forms.

LOVED this movie! It’s nice to see a movie that puts a positive light on marriage. Not one that mocks the husband as a moron or the wife as a chronic nag. Refreshing, beautiful, moving. You could see that some of the elements of the movie were more on a budget than movies backed by mainstream hollywood- but all in all I thought is was a respectable piece of work that actually taught a lesson of value. I have just become a HUGE fan of Kirk Cameron and his work and hope he will continue to make movies with a moral message at it’s core. There IS an audience- and with quality films like this- that audience is SURE to grow.

Personally I never thought he was that great an actor to begin with. However actors play characters who interact with other characters. He must’ve known that the kissing scene was in the script. If he didn’t like it why do it? Instead he forces the film makers to accomadate him. If he can’t deal with the realities of acting (like the fact that characters do things that the actors playing them don’t) he should stick to his bible-thumping, gay-bashing, holier-than-thou, preaching. Leave the acting to the REAL professionals.

I did not elaborate on my thought. I also wanted to say that a true christian does not look down on others (what right do we have we are all sinners.) I know when God came into my life I did not understand why he would forgive me I have done many wrong things in my life but God loves me despite all that and he loves every single person walking on this earth that he gave his only son’s life to save mine. Kirk Cameron believes this. If you are looking for an answer and have looked and still find that you are feeling empty take a look at the bible you have given everything else a try why not.
as to kirk replacing the actress with his wife I find that a very moral trait that seems to be dying in our country. When you get married you are making a promise not only to the person you are marrying but to God also. I will just say this God loves you no matter who you are, where you are from, or what you have done. I will pray for anyone who is still searching.

The director probally would have made the same changes for anyone it was not because of who he is. The director happens to be christian too and understands the value of marriage.
