Natalie Cole, who recently revealed she had hepatitis C, has been hospitalized due to side effects from her medication and her heavy schedule.
The Grammy-winning singer, Cole, has been in a New York City hospital since Sept. 12, and is expected to stay there for several more days, according to publicist Maureen O’Connor of the firm Rogers & Cowan.
Natalie Cole announced in July that she was suffering from hepatitis C, a liver disease, which is spread through contact with infected blood. Cole revealed that the hepatitis C was discovered during a routine medical exam, and was most likely caused by her drug use years ago.
O’Connor said Cole had been responding well to treatment, but blamed the medicine she has been taking and a busy publicity schedule to promote her new album, “Still Unforgettable,” with causing her problems. Cole had taped several TV appearances and had appeared live on NBC’s “Today” show on Sept. 11, a day before her hospitalization.
Cole is expected to be in the hospital for a few more days and then will return to her home in Los Angeles, where she will be on bedrest, O’Connor said.
“We canceling her activities in October, but we do expect her to have a complete recovery,” she said. “She just needs some rest.”
O’Connor said Cole has been well enough to talk on the phone everyday, but didn’t have much information on her condition.
Cole, the daughter of jazz legend Nat King Cole, has sold millions of albums in her own long career.
Natalie Cole had been interviewed last week by Entertainment Tonight, discussing her long battle with Hepatitis C. Cole said, “This is a virus that was dormant in my body for 25 years. I had no symptoms, was feeling great, working out like a crazy person — and this just keeled me over, like a feather.”
At the time of their interview, Natalie Cole was still being treated for the disease.
“What I have is treated with chemo … every week,” she says, adding that she experiences the traditional side effects from the treatment, such as nausea and her hair falling out.
Let’s hope Natalie Cole’s health will improve very soon.

When taking Hep C med you must drink water all day long. You must have it least 8 glasses. I mix apple cider vinegar and honey. I take 5 tablespoons of that beore taking my hep c meds. I use a lot os Simple Saline Nose Spray. I am not suffering with my treatment. Prior to the apple cider vinegar and honey I had horrible acid reflux and nausea. The apple cider and vinegar
helps kill the bad bacteria. The Hep c meds are killing the virus along with some good bacteria. That is why it is so important to drink a lot of water. It has to flush out of your system.
I also use Nioxin shampoo the helps remove the chemicals from my hair. The medicine comes out thru your hair. Everything you put in your body or on your skin goes thru your liver and out in your hair.
I just mixed a jar up of 1/2 apple cider vingar and 1/2 honey stir it well. Take about 5 tablesoons before your meds approx 15 mintues before your meds.Drink lots of water and keep your nose moist with ocean spray, simple saline. Thank GOD that you are going to get better.
