The day the X Factor judges cried.

While the judges were at it in X Factor, they encountered a contestant with a sob story. Daniel Evans sang “Sometimes When We Touch” and narrated his personal tragedy.

Daniel Evans said he lost his wife, Jacqueline, 39, six days after her childbirth to daughter Ana-Marie. Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue were moved to tears by his heart-wrenching story. Some readers commented that he should not be encouraging the sympathy vote.

Evans said that his late wife wished that he would audition in X Factor and he wanted to honor her last wish. Cole and Minogue were criticized for shedding tears as they were supposed to remain impartial and fair to all contestants.
