Nile Monitor 6 ft. Lizard Found In Oregon Backyard (Photos)

A man in Oregon was playing in his yard with his young sons and caught a 6 ft. lizard, called a Nile Monitor.

An Oregon man, Ryan Nelson, was playing in his yard with his toddler sons, when he spotted a 6 ft. lizard. The Nile Monitor was large enough to kill pets and injure people. Nelson said at first glance he thought it was a crocodile.
Nelson was able to capture the Nile Monitor and get it into a large dog cage with the help of Dalton Brown of MB Reptiles, a pet store in Grants Pass.
Nelson wondered if it could be an escaped pet from one of his neighbors. But thus far there have been no reports on missing lizards, with the Josephine County Sheriff’s office or Grants Pass police.
Officials say the large lizard could be a danger to pets or even people with it’s huge claws and teeth.
Currently, the 6 ft. lizard (nile monitor) is on display at the pet store.
