Angelina Jolie’s “Wanted” posters are unwanted in UK.
Posted on September 6, 2008UK’s Advertising Standards Authority has banned two movie posters for Angelina Jolie’s movie called “Wanted” because of public complaints. The public said the images showed the glamorizing of weapons and violence and were unsuitable for children.
The UK authority received 17 complaints from the public. They objected to James McAvoy’s pose that showed him pointing two guns at the camera. The public objected to Jolie’s pose that had her holding guns and atop a car’s hood.
The movie Wanted had already screened in June 2008 but the banned images were removed from circulation. There was an increasing hostile climate in the UK on the issue of weapons and violence. This could explain the public’s reaction.
