Helen Mirren Says She Loved Cocaine (Photos)

Dame Helen Mirren, well-respected actress, and a gorgeous older woman just looks too classy to have “loved cocaine”, but the actress openly talks about her drug use.

Helen Mirren, 63, award-winning actress, told GQ magazine that she used to use marijuana and cocaine.

“I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties,” Mirren was quoted as telling the magazine in her interview.

“But what ended it for me was when they caught (Nazi war criminal) Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon, in the early 80s. He was hiding in South America and living off the proceeds of being a cocaine baron.”

“And I read that in the paper, and all the cards fell into place, and I saw how my little sniff of cocaine at a party had an absolute direct route to this … horrible man in South America,” she was quoted as saying.

Mirren also experimented a bit with marijuana, but didn’t care for it much.

She said: “Dope always made me feel miserable and paranoid and unhappy. And I woke up one day and thought, no more of that, thank you.”Helen Mirren said she was “very poor” and said she would steal when she was younger.

“I needed to shoplift for food,” she reportedly said, adding that while she enjoyed “the accoutrements of movie star life” but Mirren is still frugal, and cuts her own hair and wears dollar-store sunglasses.

Helen Mirren does seem to be quite a “free spirit”. Does it change your opinion of her to hear she dabbled in drugs?
