democrat opinion…i have heard the rumors about S Palin being the grandmother and not the mother…Republicans are right, that until there is more proof, the rumors are inappropriate, except if they encourage further investigation….more pressing is Ms. Palin’s judgment if she IS the mother…getting on a plane for 12 hours, after your water breaks in normal circumstances is irresponsible, but in a high risk pregnancy it is dangerous…so true or false on the rumor, either way it speaks poorly of Ms. Palin.

The baby doesn’t look Down’s to me. Sure the baby has Asian features which are typical of Down’s but there is a distinct difference between Down’s and Asian. My next question would be, Is the father an Inuit?

It’s going to be much better for the governor if the rumor part of this story is true. She may not get any points out of it, but she won’t suffer any political harm for wanting to protect her daughter, and that’s more important. If she actually is Trig’s mother, it seems that everything she did put the baby (and probably herself) at extreme risk, even well before that bizarre trip to Texas. How bad is that? A risk taking VP backing up a health challenged, old president? At this stage of the game, we don’t need irresponsible leadership.

It was very irresponsible for Mrs. Palin to travel at age 44 and 8 months pregnant after her water broke. Was she on a private plane that could stop if an emergency arose? How many weeks pregnant was she? if she was more that 32 weeks why did her doctors allow her to travelat her age? She is nbot a superwoman. Is this going to be the expectations of women that we drop our babies and go on with work in three days? The practice of sending pregnant girls away or hiding them is not new for those who can afford to do so.If this child is indeed her grandchild it would be great for them to show public acceptance for a young lady who may have made a mistake. Forgiveness is a Christian virtue. If the truth was not told about this how can we expect her to tell the truth in other situations?

It is about the hypocrisy, period. Yes this is a big deal. The sanctimonious bible thumpers always pass judgement on everyone else. If true, this is a very big deal, period.

Was her motivation political, i.e., to avoid a scandal or to protect family? Either way it’s still creating and living a lie to avoid consequences!

In response to s olsen — why wouldn’t any kind, decent mother shield and protect her young, unwed daughter if she was preggars? It’s far more responsible than shunning her, and forcing her to have an abortion — something liberals are all too familiar with. Instead, Trig will be raised by his loving family. If, indeed, this is the case and Sarah is grandmother and not mother. Frankly, I’d rather wait until there is more substantial proof than just vicious rumors by angry folk like those writing for Daily Kos.

“…Republicans are right, that until there is more proof, the rumors are inappropriate”

Absolutley, so that means that the republicans are going to recant every rumor about Obama. They will stop calling him a Muslim, elitist, the Antichrist, etc.

    Yes, rumors are inappropriate

Well, except the elitist part which isn’t just a rumor..

Yeah, Obama elitist? It’s more like McCain is elitist! He wanted to marry Cindy for her major money, and he wanted major wealth. Obama isn’t an elitist just because he went to Harvard. He had to earn scholarships to get there, and he worked hard. McCain — trying to be an elitist and to flaunt his wealth — was at the bottom of his class. Such a spoiled brat he refused to work on studies. Sure, he went to Hotel Hanoi, unfortunately, after going to Nam — but before that (and after) he’s the big elitist, not Obama. M. Hollinger

And I should add he wants to make sure the wealthy don’t pay taxes. Obama wants the VERY wealthy to pay more taxes, but he wants to make life BETTER for the middle class. McCain thinks the middle class is “people who don’t make as much as $5 million.” Talk about out of touch with reality! Mc Cain is definitely the out of touch elitist with the seven homes. You’re absolutely NUTS if you vote for Nasty McCain. MHollinger

With all of the problems Gov. Palin appears to have, and to have known about, it seems unfortunate that she accepted the offer from McCain.

The adage that “No press is bad press” doesn’t always apply, and it appears that she’s not really helping the campaign so far.

Also with a young baby, (downs nor not) and a pregnant daughter, it doesn’t appear to be a good time to be so far away from home. I know I would feel the same way if it was Todd Palin who was up for the job.

It seems to me there should be other people that meet McCain’s qualifications who would be able to perform the job without what is certain to be a significant sacrifice for her family.

It appears that with their current situation, it may be that the Palins needed to spend more time with her children prior to the offer from the McCain camp.

I am less concerned with Sarah and Bristol’s “child” controversy than I am with the fact that Obama socializes with known domestic terroists (he launched his prez campaign from W. Ayer’s -ringleader of the Velvet Underground -basement)and that he spent 20 years worshipping at a church which spewed anti-American, anti-Israel and anti-white rhetoric. “God damn the US of KKK” Rev. Wright.

What a family does behind closed doors is family business. At least Sarah Palin and her daughter are not on welfare, expecting hard working Americans to pay for their health care, food, home, education, etc. Mrs. Palin is a working woman who is human and as such, mistakes will be made. But her decision to either 1) have the child or 2) protect her daughter attest to her strong sense of values and family.

    Either way, I applaud her.

IT WOULD BE BEST IF SARAH PALIN DECLINED THE VP OFFER,GO BACK TO HER IGLOO BECAUSE WE DEFINITELY DO NOT NEED ANOTHER RETARD AT ANY AGE IN THE WHITE HOUSE, LAME MCCAIN CAN DO THE SAME BECAUSE CINDY MCCAIN WILL SOON BE DRUGGING AGAIN. NO MORE RETARDS IN THE WHITE HOUSE, PLEASE

Jennie – I’m not so sure I agree with you. Why is it shameful that the young girl is pregnant? Because of who her mom is? Give me a break! What would be interesting is if she did “protect” her daughter, what can be done for other young girls in the U.S.? The bottom line is that people (both young and old) are having sex. Pregnancy is the least of anyone’s problem: STDs is an even bigger issue. Unless she can use her daughter’s experience and educate the public, trying to cover it up just says a lot about her integrity and leadership abilities. In my opinion, it would be best if Mrs. Palin faced the music and related to the people. Even John McCain has said little about this issue and it is directly linked to healthcare and the lack of education on contraceptives.

It makes more sense that Bristol had the baby, like someone once said.. ‘if it quacks like a duck, it probably is a duck’.. I can’t remember WHO that was, but… I agree that it appears very suspicious and I can see Sarah being the kind of mother to cover up any disfunction with a look a perfection.

I just worry about her, she is simply not on the same track that I am….

    1. Who says that liberals force their daughters to have an abortion? Do you have statistics to prove this?
    2. Why is it OK to criticize Obama for his former pastor’s remkars, but not OK to criticize Palin for her association with Pastor Muthee who believes in witches?
    3. I am convinced that Trig is Bristol’s child. See http://www.palindeception.com for tons of evidence.
    4. If Sarah gave birth to Trig, maybe she intnentionally but his life in danger by flying back from Texas after her water broke. Maybe she didn’t want a 5th child, let alone one with “special needs” & hoped she’d miscarry on the plane.
